When you decide to work with someone you usually try to find out a little about them, to develop a "frame of reference," to see if you can know, like, and trust them.  People work with people they like.  Here is a bit about me.  If you like what you read, call me and let’s do some real estate business for you.

I have been a Realtor® since 1985.  Prior to that I was an Infantry officer in the United States Army, with tours in Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Fort Ord, California, Korea (twice), Vietnam, where I was an Infantry Company Commander in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade, Fordham University, where I taught ROTC and met my wife Donna, Alexandria, Virginia, where I was an Infantry Assignments Officer at Infantry Branch, and later the Military Personnel Division Chief at Defense Logistics Agency.  I finished my Army service as a Personnel Policy Officer on the Army Staff in the Pentagon.

I was born in the Bronx, New York, grew up in Freeport, New York, Glen Rock, New Jersey, and Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania.  I attended Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, NJ and graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School.  My big high school excitement was starting as the Right Linebacker on the Central Catholic football team, where we had a record breaking year of eight wins and only one loss.

I attended the University of Scranton and graduated with a degree in Business Management and was a Distinguished Military Graduate.  While in the Army I attended Georgia State University and received a Master’s Degree in Counseling.  I refer to it as a Master’s in Listening.  I am also a graduate it the U.S. Army Command and Staff College, and the Armed Forces Staff College.

I hope you are not bored yet.  I play golf to a 24 handicap and read a lot of history.  I am married to Donna since 1971 and have two sons, John and Patrick, who both graduated from James Madison University with degrees in Computer Science.

I started in real estate as an agent for Roberts & Lloyd in Fairfax, VA.  In 1990 I moved to RE/MAX Heritage in Fair Lakes which was later merged with my RE/MAX Xecutex in Oakton, VA, where I served for 20 years.  I moved to RE/MAX Allegiance in January 2013.  I took all my broker courses at Northern Virginia Community College in the 1986-7 time frame but decided not to become a broker since managing independent contractors is like herding cats.

I have served on Real Estate Association and Multiple Listing Corporation committees every year since 1986.  Currently I serve on the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® (NVAR) Professional Standards Committee and the Metropolitan Real Estate Information System (MRIS) Compliance Committee, where I was its first Chairman.  I also taught real estate at the NVAR School of Real Estate.

I am a Yankee fan (remember I was born in the Bronx) and an Eagles and Redskin fan.  I attended the game in 1960 where the Philadelphia Eagles last won a NFL Championship beating Green Bay and Vince Lombardi.  I also was lucky enough to attend the fifth game of the 1969 World Series where the Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles for their first championship.

OK, that’s enough.  If you want to know more, call me.  I’ll be happy to share war stories with you about many subjects, including real estate.
